Core Training
Discovery Diver
The Discovery Diver qualification might be the right choice for you if you expect to go scuba diving primarily with a dive guide. This course is an intermediate step for earning an Ocean Diver qualification if that’s your ultimate goal.
Age requirement: 10 years or older

Ocean Diver inc. Dry Suit
The Ocean Diver qualification is BSAC’s most popular beginner course. The qualification enables you to dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 20m. The course has three parts: a self-study eLearning element, swimming pool dives (to learn basic scuba skills) and open water dives (to develop skills and explore).
FreeSAC combine the Ocean Diver qualification with the Dry Suit Training Workshop in order to set you up completely for diving in Scotland

Dive Leader
This course is perfect for BSAC members who want to take a more active role in their club.
As a Dive Leader you become an essential team member helping to organise activities at your BSAC club.
The training also prepares you to dive to depths of up to 50 metres in a range of challenging conditions, following a series of post-qualification depth progression dives.
To enrol on a Dive Leader course you must have successfully completed a Sport Diver course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency)
Age requirement: 14 years or older.

Discovery Diver Upgrade
This course is for those who want to move on from their Discovery Diver qualification and upgrade to Ocean diver
Age requirement: 12 years or older

Sports Diver
If you already have some diving experience with an entry-level qualification and want to take your underwater adventures to the next level, Sports Diver is your next step in BSAC’s Diver Training Programme.
You will broaden your experience in a variety of challenging open-water conditions and learn essential techniques to prepare you for diving to a maximum of 35 metres.
To become a Sports Diver, you must have successfully completed an Ocean Diver or Advanced Ocean Diver course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
Age requirement: aged 12 or older, but you need to be 14 or older to progress to depths greater than 20m post qualification.

Skill Development Courses
Buoyancy & Trim Workshop
Want to be able to relax underwater and move about gracefully, with the added benefit of using less gas on a dive?
The workshop will encourage you to think about your weighting and trim in a logical way.

Nitrox Workshop
Beachcomber
BSAC Beachcomber has been designed to introduce young people and those young at heart to the British seashore and to help them discover all the wonderful and weird creatures that can be found in rock pools. It can keep your young members occupied for hours. It enables young people to have fun rummaging around rock pools while learning about the marine life they find.
No age restrictions.

Wreck Appreciation
Marine Life Appreciation
BSAC’s Marine Life Appreciation course is a great way to find out how you can contribute to marine science and conservation.
The Marine Life Appreciation course is open to any BSAC member. No diving qualification is necessary to take part, but there is an optional underwater session for qualified divers.

Dry Suit Training Workshop
A 90 minute theory workshop will give you the knowledge necessary to dive safely in open water within your existing qualification using mixes up to nitrox 36 on a decompression dive. You will be able to plan nitrox dives using BSAC nitrox tables or a nitrox computer.

BSAC’s Wreck Appreciation course is an excellent way to learn how to recognise and safely navigate the features of wrecks. The BSAC Wreck Appreciation course is recognised by the Nautical Archaeology Society.

Drysuit Training is for any diver who wants to learn how to use a drysuit. Perfect for divers who want to start diving in a drysuit. If you learned to dive in warmer waters, you can take this course to become more comfortable diving in cooler waters in a drysuit.

Dive Planning & Management
Aimed at potential Dive Leaders and Advanced Divers, this two-day course introduces and extends existing knowledge and practical skills in all aspects of the process of planning and managing dives.

Oxygen Administration
The Oxygen Administration course is for you if you want to gain skills and experience in rescue techniques and diving first aid. During the course you will get plenty of experience in assessing simulated casualties in different scenarios. Price: £85
Practical Rescue Management
The Practical Rescue Management course is a great way to safely expose a group of divers to realistic diving incidents. This course also provides an opportunity for further instruction and practice in personal rescue skills. To enrol on the course you must have already successfully completed a Sports Diver course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).

Sea Survival Workshop
If you want to know more about sea survival techniques for divers this workshop is for you. To enrol on the course you must have already successfully completed a minimum of an Ocean Diver course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).

Search & Recovery Workshop
The Search and Recovery course gives qualified divers hands-on experience of using reels, lines, weights, buoys, and containers and lifting bags of various shapes and sizes, alongside lifting strops and karabiners, to recover objects from the water.
To enrol on the Search and Recovery course you must have already successfully completed a Sports Diver course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
